Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Cream

Soothes and intensely moisturises skin undergoing medical acne treatment

A moisturizer for acne prone skin that alleviates the side effects of acne medication. It’s intensively hydrating, non-sticky formula soothes irritations, reduces tightness and helps you to regain control over demanding blemish-prone skin.

Moisturizer for acne-prone skin

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Cream is a moisturizer for acne-prone skin specially formulated for people undergoing medical acne treatment.

One of the side effects of acne medication is that it frequently causes severe dryness in skin. This intensely moisturising, non-greasy cream soothes these symptoms. Ceramides support skin’s protective barrier and reduce moisture loss, SymSitive* helps to calm irritation such as stinging and burning directly at source and Licochalcone A helps to reduce redness. The formula helps to bring demanding, blemish- and acne-prone skin under control and it feels smooth and supple after the first application.

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Cream is suitable for use during pregnancy.

Frequently asked questions

Can I carry on using Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Cream when I’m no longer having medical treatment for acne?

Yes. The product can be used on an ongoing basis even when you are not having medical treatment for acne. If you have dry, blemish-prone skin it’s likely to be very suitable, but if your skin stops being so dry you may find it too rich and need a lighter product. Try Eucerin DermoPurifyer Mattifying Fluid.

Does the product contain sun protection factor?

No, so you can use it in the evenings. When skin is undergoing medical acne treatment it is particularly sensitive to the sun so, if your skin is going to be exposed for a considerable time, you should regularly apply a sun screen such as Eucerin Sun Gel Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF50+

I cover my acne with make-up. Am I making everything worse?

Thorough cleansing and moisturising will make little difference if skin is regularly contaminated by cosmetics that promote impurities. Be sure to use make-up that is suitable for your skin and don’t forget to remove it thoroughly in the evening. Your doctor or pharmacist will be able to advice you on cosmetic choices.

I’ve previously used the Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Hydrating Care SPF30. What is the difference between that and Euceirn DERMOPURE Adjunctive Soothing Care?

We have fundamentally changed the formula of this product. If you used Adjunctive Hydrating Care in the past then you will be absolutely fine to use this new cream and we hope you’ll experience additional benefits. Our new, improved formula contains SymSitive*, Panthenol, more Licochalcone A, Ceramide and more Glycerin.

It is now free from Parabens and no longer contains an SPF. This means that this product is now also suitable for night time use. Skin is particularly sensitive to the sun when it is undergoing acne treatment so we recommend you apply additional sun protection in the morning. Try Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF 50+ depending on your levels of exposure.

Is acne genetic?

A genetic predisposition certainly counts. If both parents had acne in their youth there is a greater likelihood that their children will also experience acne.

Which type of medical acne treatments does Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Cream work with?

It is an ideal moisturiser to accompany both topical treatments (such as Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide) and systemic acne therapies (such as Isotretinoin).

Are the Eucerin DermoPurifyer care products suitable as a make-up base?

Yes. If skin is thoroughly moisturised then it will be easier to apply make-up evenly.

  • Use daily in the morning and/or in the evening – as often as necessary
  •  Apply a chickpea-sized amount to a thoroughly cleansed face (try Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleansing Gel)
  • Massage gently
  • Avoid contact with your eyes
  • Follow with an appropriate sun protection product such as Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF 50+. This is important to help prevent pigmentation issues in blemish-prone skin
  • Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Cream is an excellent base for make-up

Use your acne moisturizer in the morning and/or evening
Applying Eucerin Adjunctive Hydrating Care SPF 30 to the face
Apply moisturizer for acne prone skin before using your make up and/or concealer

Cover blemishes and even out skin tone with foundation and/or a concealer. Choose products that are non-comedogenic (i.e. that will not block pores) and, ideally, ones that contain ingredients that work to improve the condition of blemish-prone skin. Be sure to remove all make-up before you go to bed.

Cleanse your skin before using moisturizer for acne-prone skin

Cleanse skin in the morning and evening:
- am: to remove the sebum and dead skin cells that have accumulated overnight
- pm: to remove make-up and free skin from the day’s dirt

Use gentle cleansing products such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleansing Gel with lukewarm water and follow with an appropriate toner. You may also benefit from using a scrub once a week to unclog pores and refine skin texture. We do not recommend using an alcohol-based toner and the scrub alongside acne medication as Isotretinoin, Benzoyl Peroxide and Antibiotics can make skin more sensitive. If you like the refreshing feel of a toner, try the alcohol-free Eucerin DermoPurifyer Micellar Water instead.

Apply moisturizer for acne after cleansing and toning

The care product you use depends on the severity of your acne and on the type of treatment you are undergoing. If you are using medical treatment for acne, Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Cream helps to alleviate some of the symptoms such as intense dryness. It should be applied five minutes after your medication so the treatment can absorb fully. If you have mild to moderate acne, but are not undergoing medical acne treatment, use a soothing and mattifying moisturiser such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Mattifying Fluid in the morning and evening. For clearer and smoother-looking skin over time, you may also like to incorporate our skin renewal treatment into your routine. It is suitable for all blemish-prone skin that is not undergoing medical acne treatment and should be used once a day only − ideally in the evening. You can use it before the mattifying fluid or on its own.

Use sun protection after your acne moisturizer

Sun protection is an important step in your morning routine. Blemishes can cause pigmentation issues if over-exposed to the sun, and acne medications can make blemish-prone skin even more sensitive to UV rays. Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch SPF50+ offers the levels of protection that your skin needs and should be applied before your cover-up and make-up. If you’re applying sun protection after a topical acne treatment wait five minutes to allow the treatment to fully absorb.

You are no longer having medical treatment for your acne: Try Eucerin DERMOPURE Mattifying Fluid.

Your skin has been dried out and irritated by medical acne treatment.

Eucerin DermoPURIFYER is a range of effective dermo cosmetic solutions for impure skin. Its ingredient combination addresses the four key factors of impure skin: hyperkeratosis (disrupted skin cell shedding), seborrhea (increased sebum production), microbial colonisation (increased bacteria proliferation) and inflammation of the skin. Eucerin DermoPURIFYER products have been proven in clinical and dermatological studies to be both effective and very good for skin tolerability.
